Introduction
The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 remains one of the biggest SUV players on the African landscape. Combining a large 7-seater SUV configuration, legendary Land Cruiser off-road credentials, rugged ladder-frame construction and robust V8 diesel engine – the ‘Cruiser, as it’s affectionately known in 4×4 circles, is a key player in the large-SUV market segment.
For 2019, the pinnacle of the Land Cruiser family tree has received some subtle tweaks, staying true to the proven formula.
GX-R
Toyota has in store two grade options; the utility-focused entry-level model has been rebadged as GX-R (GX of old) – to align the naming convention with its luxurious VX-R sibling. Both derivatives are powered by a 4.5-litre V8 turbodiesel engine pumping of 195 kW @ 3400 rpm and 650 Nm @ 1600 – 2600 rpm.
VX-R
Visible changes to the VX-R model are mostly found at the front of the vehicle. A new front grille design features two prominent horizontal slats intersecting the large grille opening in an east-west direction.
A smoked treatment has been applied to the Bi-LED headlamps and LED fog lamps, for enhanced visual differentiation. The headlamps themselves include Auto High Beam functionality, super bright LED illumination and Daytime Running Lights (DRL).
Peugeot e-Legend Concept Reincarnates The Iconic 504
The French carmaker has looked at its past to get inspiration for its future. The e-Legend concept is a self-driving coupe designed as a fresh take on the French marque’s brilliant 504. the e-Legend is an all-electric self-drive coupe designed to meet the needs of the 21st century.
The French e-Legend automaker was launched at the 2018 Paris Motor show. The concept car rolled out to an awaiting crowd as it displayed Peugeot’s take on future automotive technology and design.
Powering the car, Peugeot envisions a 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack sending juice to an electric motor producing 339kW and 800Nm of torque. The e-Legend distributes the power out to all four wheels. That results in a 0-100kph blast in less than four seconds, while the range would be over 595 Kilometres.
The e-Legend is very much a concept car but analysts predict that it should be hitting the streets in about three years, as Peugeot plots its electrification future with the rest of the European vehicle builders.
