A total of 15 gas stations also known as petrol stations have been sealed in Osun State
It should be recalled that 15 illegal Liquefied Petroleum Gas stations were shut in the state for operating without a license.
Well, eight days after, another 10 of such stations have been sealed off by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Osogbo field Office.
This was revealed by the DPR’s Operations Controller, Ademola Makinde who broke the news to journalists in Osogbo and expressed concern over the proliferation of illegal gas plants across the state.
He explained that during surveillance, officials of DPR discovered that many gas stations in Osogbo and Ilesha were operating within residential areas.
Makinde however, assured that the DPR would not relent in its drive to ensure that standards, that would guarantee safety, were followed before any gas plant operator would be legitimately allowed to begin a business.
“We are not saying people should not do business but for them to do so, they have to follow the laydown safety rules and regulations. Many of these illegal gas plants and gas skid operates without a valid licence and also within residential areas,” he explained.
Makinde added that the practice of operation without a valid license no longer be tolerated. He noted that the surveillance team will not leave any stone unturned in its bid to ensure that safety standards were maintained in the gas business in the state.
