2019 Toyota Rush Review

The 2019 Toyota Rush: The Perfect Car For Your Family

Toyota introduced the stylish Rush MPV a few months back. It has become a favourite among people with small families. With its attractive price of Ksh. 3.14 Million, it has gathered a lot of attention, especially from Suzuki with its similar size Ertiga and soon to be unveiled Renault Triber. Let’s take a look at what makes the Rush tick.

Design

Design- Toyota Rush Review
Toyota has employed its current design language to the Rush, which by the way was based on the new Toyota philosophy. Now it looks like the Fortuner’s baby brother. Butch looks and flared fenders makes the Rush a breath of fresh air. Coupled with LED strips in the headlamps, stylish 17-inch alloy wheels and high clearance the Rush is a vehicle that looks pricier than it really is.

Step inside and notice again the design language of the Fortuner being employed in abundance. Stylish instrumentation and that neat touchscreen system further lift the Rush’s cabin to heady heights, particularly considering its origins. The leather-wrapped steering wheel and plenty of cubby holes and spaces enhance the Rush’s offering.

Additional Factors

You get a comprehensive touchscreen infotainment system on the entertainment side. Not only do you get Apple Car Play and Android Auto-compatible but it also incorporates satellite navigation.

Plenty of bits and bobs on offer including power windows are fitted all-round. Second and third-row flexible seats, passive car security system, push-button start, retractable side mirrors and climate control also come standard.

Rear seat passengers will appreciate the generous leg and headroom and they also get their own 12V power outlet. The only real downside to the Rush’s packaging and design is its driving position – although the driver’s seat is height-adjustable.

Performance

Under the hood lies a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 77Kw/136Nm of torque. Mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox, it sends power to the front paws and allows you to explore the full potential of the engine. The rush returns a combined fuel efficiency figure of 6.6L/100KM.

Safety

The Rush has amazing safety features. It has active safety Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Emergency Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), 6 Airbags and a sturdy passenger cell.

Verdict

Toyota Rush is just irresistible, practical, stylish, efficient and safe. It simply ticks all the boxes for someone looking for an all-round car. Toyota Kenya offers a 3 year/100,000 KM warranty on the Rush.
